Trey Haley on the award and his work

Atlanta Wave TV: How does it feel to receive this recognition?

Trey Haley: “How you doing, my name is Trey Haley, and I've been today honored... we honored for the visionary in film and television award.”

In his first exchange on camera, Haley identifies himself and the award he is receiving: Visionary in Film and Television at the Sheen Magazine Awards 2026.

Haley shared the moment with his father, Leon Hayley, who was there to support him and his work.

Leon Hayley: “This is my father and I'm Leon Hayley. I'm his father, and I'm here to support my son's vision to helping other young people.”

The exchange offered a personal note at an event focused on achievement and legacy. Haley’s father spoke about supporting his son's vision, while Trey recognized an award tied to his work in film and television.

Atlanta Wave TV: As the Sheen Magazine Awards celebrate 20 years, what has been your legacy in the film business?

Trey Haley: “Done a lot of things. My company is called Tri Destined Studios. I currently have a couple of TV shows on Paramount Plus. One is The Family Business. I'm the director and one of the executive producers of that show, as well as The Family Business New Orleans and The Black Hamptons. These are three television shows that we have, drama series. Family Business just got renewed for its seventh season, and The Black Hamptons just got renewed as well. Also Deb Antney, she's getting awarded today. Her film Deb Is Boss, I directed the film. I mean, I got a little lucky today. She's here.”

The interview captures Haley discussing current television work and a feature film as he receives recognition at the awards. His name for his company matches the publicly reported one: Tri Destined Studios, where Haley serves as President and Partner.

A career in film and television

According to Tri Destined Studios’ profile of Trey Haley, he grew up in Arlington, Texas, studied Radio, Television and Film at the University of North Texas, and later moved to Los Angeles to pursue film and television. The studio says he developed production experience at several companies, including Morgan Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment.

Haley’s work spans directing, producing, and executive producing. His profile highlights The Family Business, where he serves as a director and co-executive producer. In the Atlanta Wave TV interview, he also discusses the New Orleans series and The Black Hamptons as part of his work in television drama.

The news of the two renewals is also confirmed by Paramount Press Express. In an August 27, 2026 announcement, Paramount+ and BET Studios confirmed The Family Business for Season 7 and The Black Hamptons for Season 3. The announcement lists Haley among the executive producers for both series.

The renewals give viewers more of two dramas with established audiences. In the interview, Haley describes them as part of a slate of television shows that includes The Family Business New Orleans. His comments also put the latest news in context: he is continuing to build on ongoing television work while taking on feature projects.

Directing Deb Is Boss

Haley’s interview also looks to Deb Is Boss, a film he says he directed. The subject is music manager Deb Antney, who was also being recognized at the Sheen Magazine Awards 2026.

The film’s public details are separate from Haley’s interview comments. According to ALLBLK’s film page, Deb Is Boss stars Lil Mama, LisaRaye McCoy, Clifton Powell, and Dan Lauria, and Haley is credited as director. The page describes a story about Antney’s path before she shaped the careers of artists including Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, and French Montana.

Public reporting on the film’s release identifies Deb Is Boss as an ALLBLK original feature that premiered on March 5, 2026. Carl Weber wrote the film. These details provide additional context for the project Haley briefly discusses in the interview.

The film also connects the award moment to the broader work of the people being honored. Haley describes directing Antney’s film and notes that she is at the event to receive an award. His words are brief, but they point to a collaboration that brings his directing work together with Antney’s story.

A recognition that reflects ongoing work

Haley’s comments at the Sheen Magazine Awards bring together several parts of his professional life: directing, producing, ongoing television series, and a feature film. His father’s presence adds a family perspective, with Leon Hayley describing his support for his son’s vision and for helping young people.

The interview does not attempt to summarize a whole career. Instead, it offers Haley’s own short account of what he is working on now and how he views his legacy in the film business. The publicly announced renewals add a timely update to that conversation, while Deb Is Boss points to his work beyond episodic television.
